Home But Not Alone - A Guide for ANY Stay At Home Parent
Home But Not Alone is a complete, easy-to-read handbook for the work-at-home-with-kids parent. The suggestions and ideas are sensible, straightforward, and useable. The worksheets, that I almost didn't want to complete because "I don't have the time", help focus your thinking and decision-making. This book has been very useful to me in setting up my home business in addition to being a stay-at-home parent. My only reqret is that I waited so long to read it as its suggestions are great for just finding time to get things done!

Homer: The Odyssey: Books 13-24 (Loeb Classical Library, No 105)
Published in Hardcover by Harvard Univ Pr (April, 1995)
Authors: Homer, George E. Dimock, and A. T. Murray
Average review score:

Fitzgerald's Odyssey Rocks!
Robert Fitzgerald's poetic vision brings Homer's vibrant Greek verse through into full powered English poetry. I struggled through the original Greek in high school and find other translations wimp out compared to Fitzgerald's accurate, high energy images bringing the reader the vitality of the original. This is the best-ever translation of a timeless classic: one man's longing for home, loneliness and desolation overcome by insight and perseverance. Fantastic

House-Training Your VCR : A Help Manual for Humans
Published in Paperback by Grapevine Pubns (May, 1992)
Authors: Dave Murray and Joe Congel
Average review score:

The best way to learn about VCR's
After many years of helping customers with programming their VCR's, Dave Murray wrote a book on how to do it. Dave sells VCR's, Dave knows VCR's. This book is easy to read, explains in plain English what to do, step-by-step. Throw out those owners manuals and get this book, you won't regret it. I've given it to people who have no idea what they are doing with a VCR and after reading this book, they knew what to do and how to do it. You will not only learn about VCR's, you will find yourself laughing hysterically at times as this book is extremely humorous (not to mention the great illustrations). Get rid of the frustrations, get this book!

review of How to Draw Pets
This is a great book. The instructions are concise, simple and easy to follow. Initially, the drawings appear very basic but with repeated practice, they become quite adorable. My 8 year enjoyed this book because of the gratification he received when his drawing actually looked like the animal he was trying to draw. It's fun.

The How to Handle Difficult People Handbook: Everything Problem-People Don't Want You to Know
Published in Paperback by Success Without Stress (January, 1997)
Author: Murray Oxman
Average review score:

Short But Very Useful
This book is very short; 16 (sixteen) pages.

It is also very useful; and worth the full cover price ($4.95) based on useful content.

But to be clear, it is closer to what many people would think of as a booklet. It is the common 5.5 inch by 8.5 inch size, but does not have a flat out spine like a perfect-bound paperback. Rather it is stapled, as are most booklets without enough pages for a spine.

13 types of difficult people are described. And following each description is a "response," suggesting how to respond to such a person.

Some of the types of people are:

The Gloom and Doomer
The Intimidator
The Energy Thief
Mr. Obnoxious
The Criticizer

and 8 others.

The descriptions are accurate. The suggested responses are insightful and useful.

Small and useful is better than big and useless. So as long as you realize that this book is small, as described above, you shouldn't be disappointed, because the content is really that good.

How to Hula
Published in Paperback by Mutual Publishing (December, 1997)
Authors: Patricia Murray and Joe, Jr. Perrone
Average review score:

Learning to Hula !
Having visited Hawaii a couple of years ago and having fallen in love with its fantastically diverse landscapes, traditions and cultures, I wondered how I could bring a little of the magic home with me. Learning to hula sounded like the ideal way to continue enjoying Hawaii and since there are no local classes available here,in England, this book has been ideal. The book combines the traditions of Hula dancing along with a brief philosophy in an easy-to-follow context, great for beginners, setting out the key steps required to complete a selection of dances for a variety of occasions. Beautiful colour photographs, showing arm and body movements are used throughout, accompanied by basic instructions and ideas for costumes and lei designs. There is a short glossary at the end and a selection of suggested Hawaiian songs to which the dances can be performed. The book is easy to use, thanks to its clear presentation and instructions and the photographs in themselves are beautiful. Related topics that I have looked into further, have included the making of leis and the history of Hawaii with its legends.
